You Can't Skip This Step: Detoxing Your Dreads!
Hey there, queens! So you've taken the plunge and snagged some fierce Wildcrafted Beauty synthetic dreads! Welcome to the club! But before you rock those bad boys on the front lines (we see you, amazing nurses and healthcare heroes!), let's talk about giving them a little TLC (Tender, Love & Care)
It won’t take more than an hour to get it over with and it’s definitely the kind of thing you can do listening to your favorite podcast or audiobook.
Why is this simply the step you can’t miss? Well, think of it like this: your new dreads are fresh from the factory and just like anything new, they might have some residual chemicals on them from the manufacturing process. That's where the magic of detoxing comes in!
Here's the lowdown on why detoxing is a must-do for your synthetic dreads, and how easy it is to achieve a better PH balance for happy, and healthy hair. These dreads once handled with care and love, like many things in life, will go a long way!
Why Detox?
Our natural hair pH levels can get disrupted when you introduce synthetic dreads into the mix which includes a layer of flame resistant spray, and well… no one wants that anywhere near their hair or body! Here’s where detoxing saves the day! The process helps bring everything into harmony; ensuring that your scalp stays happy and irritation free. Healthy as ever!
Detoxing Made Simple (Seriously, It Is!)
Good news, boss ladies! Detoxing your new dreads is as easy as pie, it is much easier actually. Here's what you'll need:
- Your brand new Wildcrafted Beauty dreadlocks
- One pouch of dread tox which is usually included with your order (we've got you covered!)
- A big bowl (think mixing a big batch of cookies!.. but bigger)
- Warm or hot tap water (not boiling, we don't want melty dreads!)
- Gloves (safety first, always!) You don’t want those chemicals to touch your skin while rinsing.
How To Detox: Shake, Soak, Slay!
- Shake it Off: Give that Dreadtox pouch bag a good ol' shake to activate its magic!
- Fill It Up: Pour the entire detox solution into your bowl. Don't worry if you see some texture, that's just the solution being activated!
- Warm Welcome: Add a cup of r hot tap water to the bowl. Make sure it’s not too hot!
- Dreads Take a Dip: Gently lower your new dreads to the detox bath while topping it off with more water until the dreads are completely submerged, and ready to rest.
- Soak City: Let your dreads chill in the detox solution for a cool hour while you do your own little “happy dance” as you patiently await your dreads to be prepped!
- Glove Up!: Handle with Care! Make sure you’re wearing gloves throughout the whole process so that your skin does not get irritated… we wouldn’t want that, would we?
- Rinse Away! Rinse your dreads 3-4 times with warm water to get all the DreadTox and chemicals off from them
- And that's it! After their detox spa day, your synthetic dreads will be ready to slay the world (or at least your work shift) with confidence, and character!
Drying Up for Dazzling Results:
Once the detox hour is complete, take out your synthetic dreads and lay them flat on a clean towel. Gently pat them dry with another towel to remove excess moisture and if you’re way too excited and just want it all to hurry up, lucky for you our WB dreads are high quality synthetic hair so you can use a blow dryer or fan on them!
Quick note: You can also do this detox in between dreadlock installs to cleanse your dreads and balance the PH in them for future wear.
