You wake and sit up in bed...

Installation & Removal:

Wildcrafted braids are simply braided in using 2 pieces of your natural hair + 1 braid. You will then use the 3 total pieces to create a basic braid that will secure them into your hair and secure with Wild BandZ!

The soft braid lays gently against the scalp to create the maximum amount of comfort.  Gently lay the braid against the scalp and begin to braid down the braid.

Because these are simply braided in they will not cause any damage to your hair and will actually work to help protect your hair from the use of heat and chemicals in hair products.

To remove the braids you simply remove the rubber band and unbraid your hair from it.

The Piggyback Method:  Around the middle of the braid create a loop and secure it with one of your Wild BandZ.  Pull a dread that is installed through the loop and then tighten the loop in the braid around the dread.

    How are braid-in hair extensions installed?

    Each extension is simply braided into your natural hair using a typical 3 strand braid, the same one most of us learned as a little girl. You repeat that process around your head and you’re done.

    We send a digital course with your order to guide you through the process.

    You can install them on yourself, have a girlfriend help, or show it to your hairdresser so they can install them for you.

    How long can you wear braid-in extensions before removing them?

    We recommend 4 to 6 weeks of wear time. Once you remove them, you can immediately re-install them or take a break and enjoy your natural hair.

    How do you wash your hair with braid-in extensions in?

    We like to say we're "bougie hippies, not dirty ones."

    You can wash them as often as you like, and you can shower just as you normally would. Most women find they only need to wash their hair 1–2 times per week.

    Because you’re not washing, drying, and styling every day, your mornings get much faster and your natural hair gets a much‑needed break.

    Use a gentle and pH‑balanced shampoo to wash, like our Peppermint Shampoo Bar, that helps prevent itching, adds moisture and keeps your hair soft. Use the Shampoo Bar to clean your scalp and let the suds rinse through the extensions.

    How do you care for braid-in hair extensions day to day?

    It's super simple. At first, your routine will take about 10 minutes in the morning and 10 in the evening. Then it will get faster as time goes on.

    Your basic routine:

    • Daily: Simply separate your dreads twice a day using a few pumps of Crown Nectar.
    • Weekly: Wash your scalp and hair then rinse well.
    • Nightly: Sleep in a satin bonnet or 1 or 2 french braids on a satin pillowcase
    • After 2 months: Nightly, slide an Ona band over your loose hair and climb into bed. No more bonnet needed.

    Never brush or comb them, as this can ruin the texture and wave.

    How long do braid-in hair extensions last?

    When cared for properly, a set of extensions will last you for years and actually get better with time.

    The braid-in dreadlock extensions can be re‑installed over and over.

    Most women only buy new sets because they want to mix and match new colors or try different lengths.

    How long does your hair need to be for braid-in extensions?

    You only need 2 to 3 inches of hair to install these.

    If your hair is past your shoulder blades, we recommend choosing one of our longer extension options to ensure there is enough space to braid your natural hair onto the extension comfortably.
